About Octane11

Octane11 is an AI-powered marketing analytics platform — for B2B only — that connects paid, owned, and earned marketing activity to sales data in order to deliver clear, actionable insights. We help B2B-focused agencies and enterprises with $25M+ in revenue improve marketing efficiency by 10x, deliver 5x more sales leads, and compare performance to 25 industry benchmarks. Backed by top VCs and industry insiders, Octane11 is helping some of the largest B2B enterprises and agencies break down data silos and turn every digital interaction into an actionable insight.

The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled, organized and self-motivated Sr. Analytics Engineer to join our growing data team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on data modeling, analytics, and business logic — the person who digs deep into our data, understands the "why" behind the numbers, and translates complex business requirements into clean, well-structured, scalable models.

We are a lean, self-organized, and highly autonomous team. You will work directly with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to build and maintain the data foundation that powers our platform and client insights. We care deeply about best practices, clean code, and building things that last. AI-assisted development is part of our day-to-day, for accelerating development or exploring data problems in new ways. You'll have the opportunity to help shape how we use them as a team. This is an outstanding opportunity to make a real impact on a fast-growing, entrepreneurial team with unlimited potential for learning, responsibility, and career development.

Responsibilities

  • Own the data modeling layer: design, build, and maintain dbt models that accurately reflect complex business logic across our B2B data platform.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product and Engineering teams to translate requirements into well-structured, documented, and testable data models.
  • Be the go-to person for understanding what the data means — diving deep into business logic, validating results, and ensuring data quality end-to-end.
  • Work alongside Data Engineers on pipeline architecture and integration of new data sources (sales, marketing, product, and beyond).
  • Monitor, review, and proactively improve data quality, freshness, and reliability.
  • Contribute to and help define our data modeling standards, best practices, and documentation.
  • Participate actively in product grooming and planning sessions, providing strong input on data-related work.
  • Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and help raise the overall technical bar of the team.
  • Most importantly, help build a team culture that strives for greatness and makes our clients heroes every day.

About You

Beyond technical skills, we value curiosity, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine interest in the business problems behind the data. We believe the best engineers are those who care about impact, take ownership, and keep growing.

  • You have a deep passion for data and a strong instinct for what "good" looks like — in a model, in a query, in a result.
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Expert-level SQL: you write complex, performant queries naturally and care about doing it right.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt — you understand the framework deeply and are comfortable building and maintaining production dbt projects.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts: dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions, incremental strategies, and data warehouse design.
  • Experience working with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses (GCP preferred).
  • You are a strong communicator — comfortable working directly with Product and business stakeholders, not just engineers.
  • You work independently, take ownership of what you build, and don't need active supervision to deliver.
  • You are a team player who genuinely cares about the people around you and the quality of the product you're building.
  • You embrace AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, etc.) and are eager to keep pushing how you use them.

Extras

These are nice-to-haves that could make you an especially strong fit:

  • Experience with B2B AdTech, MarTech, or SalesTech platforms (e.g., Reddit Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, The Trade Desk, Salesforce, Marketo, HubSpot, Amplitude).
  • Familiarity with ELT pipeline tools and data ingestion patterns.
  • Python experience for data transformation or scripting tasks.
  • Background in a B2B SaaS or data product environment.

Our Stack

We use a variety of technologies across our data platform. We are open to candidates from different backgrounds — what matters most is strong fundamentals and a genuine desire to learn and grow.

  • SQL, dbt
  • BigQuery
  • Python
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • PostgreSQL
  • Docker, Kubernetes
  • Git / GitHub
  • REST, OAuth

Example Jobs to be Done

These are representative examples of the kind of work you'd be doing — not an exhaustive list, but a window into what the role looks like in practice.

(1) Own and extend the core data model

Dive deep into existing dbt models, understand the business logic behind them, and confidently extend or refactor them to support new use cases. The goal is always clean, well-tested, well-documented models the whole team can rely on.

(2) Integrate new data sources into the platform

Work alongside Data Engineers to model and incorporate data from new sources as we expand our integrations. Examples include: paid media platforms (Reddit Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, The Trade Desk), CRM/MAP tools (Salesforce, Marketo, HubSpot), and product analytics tools (Amplitude). Your job is to take the raw data and make it meaningful and usable within our existing models.

(3) Support cross-client analytics and benchmarks

Help build the data foundation for cross-client benchmark insights — one of Octane11's core differentiators. This involves thinking carefully about how to model data consistently across clients and channels, and ensuring the logic is sound at scale.

(4) Be the data partner to the Product Team

Participate in grooming and planning sessions, bring strong input into data-related tickets, and help the Product team understand what the data can (and can't) do. This is a collaborative role — you'll be a trusted voice in shaping what gets built and how.

(5) Improve data reliability and quality

Proactively identify gaps in data quality, freshness, or test coverage. Build monitoring and alerting where it's missing. Raise the bar on what "production-ready" means for our data layer.

(6) Scale our dbt project as we grow

As the platform grows, help evolve our dbt project: incremental models, better test coverage, cleaner documentation, and a structure that stays maintainable as we add clients, channels, and use cases.

If you are a senior data professional who loves getting into the details of business logic, building models that teams can rely on, and being a strong contributor on a small but mighty team — we want to hear from you!
